Medieval Battle Axe

Through the course of human history, daily utility tools have long been pressed into service as weapons of war. Battle Axes, by virtue of its nature, is of no exception. While the axe was commonly used among all human civilizations, the Battle Axe, engineered from its embryonic axe, resulted as a logical extension. Axes, used for mundane duties were modified into tools of war. Although massive, the medieval battle axe generally weighs far less than modern axes as they were designed to cut limbs rather than wood. Hence narrower slicing axe heads and edges were the norm. The narrower heads facilitates handling, while maximized the Battle Axe’s ability to inflict deep, grievous wounds in the thick of battle.
