(Sale Sword ) 15th C. Italian Bastard Sword (#98947)

     blank

Relative condition: 8/10

Structural integrity: 10/10

Reason of sale:  This 15th C. bastard sword was made with parts from a previous production that have not past our quality control due to aesthetic flaws. There are minor surface scratches on the pommel and guard (see image gallery for details) and the geometry of the tip is not perfect. The sword is therefore being sold at a discounted price.  The sword’s structural integrity is perfectly intact.

historical context: By the late 14th and throughout the 15th centuries, the battlefield landscape of Europe was dominated by advancements in articulated plate armor. To counter this ironclad protection, the traditional one-handed arming sword evolved. Sword smiths began lengthening the blade and grip, creating the “bastard sword” or hand-and-a-half sword—a highly versatile weapon capable of being wielded in a single hand from horseback, or with two hands on foot to deliver devastating, high-leverage cuts and precise thrusts into armor gaps.

Please Note: Our team will professionally polish and clean these spots prior to shipping, ensuring the sword arrives in beautiful, ready-to-display condition.
