Reason of sale: This Great sword was created with parts that have not passed our quality control tests (minor esthetic scratches on pommel and guard – see image gallery for details).  The sword is a one of a kind piece.

This exceptional longsword is a fine exemplar of early 15th-century “hand-and-a-half” sword design, balancing refined aesthetic features with a brutal, armor-piercing geometry. It captures the transition from predominantly cutting blades toward stiffer, thrust-oriented thrusting weapons designed to defeat contemporary plate defenses. The hollow ground type XVIIIa diamond blade culminates in a robust, reinforced point designed for targeted thrusts into the gaps of a plate harness. with steel. The simple, elegant, downward-angled crossguard provides effective hand protection while maintaining a low profile. The hilt is a hand-and-a-half length, wrapped in premium brown leather with subtle risers, providing an optimal grip for both two-handed levered cuts and single-handed, closer engagement.

This longsword is not just a reproduction; it is a dedicated reconstruction that places historical authenticity at the forefront. The complex geometry of the hilt assembly, the severe taper of the blade, and especially the magnificent faceted pommel make this a centerpiece acquisition for any collector or historian focused on the early Italian or Germanic transitions of the 15th century.
