Reason of sale: The sword has been made with various parts that have not passed our quality control due to aesthetic reasons.  There are some minor spots on the fittings and blade (see image gallery for details).The entire sword has been blued (blackened).  In hand, the sword feels like an extension of one's arm and is very responsive and precise. 

This type XVIII sword falls into the 1400-1450 period. As battlefield armor transitioned from chainmail to reinforced plate during the 14th and early 15th centuries, the standard knightly arming sword had to evolve. No longer could a warrior rely solely on sweeping cutting blows; they needed a weapon capable of finding the gaps in an opponent's iron defenses.

This stunning one-handed sword is inspired by the Oakeshott Type XVIII, a quintessential late-medieval design engineered precisely for this transitional era of warfare.  The defining characteristic of this piece is its stiff, tapering blade featuring a diamond hollow ground cross-section. Historically, this geometry was a triumph of blacksmithing. By scooping out material from the flats of the blade while maintaining a thick, rigid central ridge, medieval smiths created a sword that was incredibly lightweight and fast in the hand, yet rigid enough to deliver devastating thrusts against armored foes.

In hand, the sword feels very responsive. The sword would be very fitting for both thrusting and cutting, making it a very good backyard cutter.   As with all our blades, the sword is made with a full tang and properly heat treated and Tempered.

Reason of sale: This bastard sword was created with parts that have not passed our quality control tests (minor Aesthetic flaws). The guard and blade show some very minor signs scratches (see image gallery for details). The blade is a type XI. It was the dominant weapon of the knightly class from the 11th through the 14th centuries, serving as a versatile companion to the primary battlefield lance. The sword is made with a 34" blade, with parallel edges that taper gracefully to an acute, penetrating point. This design reflects the historical shift in warfare during the 13th and early 14th centuries, where blades required a balance between devastating cutting capability against mail armor and a precise point to find the gaps in early plate reinforcement.  The base of the blade is acid etched in Latin, reading "confirmatus in christo V.XXXI.MMXVI Manu Forti". 

In hand, the sword feels like a classical medieval knight sword should. Strong, responsive and powerful. This is a beautiful cut and thrust sword that is capable of taking and delivering considerable abuse.

6.5” utility knife

The Shogun Series 6.5” utility knife is exceptionally balanced for miscellaneous cutting tasks. A utility knife is an important sidearm for every chef, filling in the gap between larger and smaller kitchen cutting utensils. The shorter length gives greater balance and ease of use, allowing for agile handling for delicate tasks. 

Reason for sale: Wood not stabilized properly by wood supplier. This has caused a small gap between the grip and the blade, as well as some cracking in the handle. See images for details.

Part of our Fallen Warrior sale lot, This Jousting helmet was used in for an A&E documentary. There are some scratches and minor dents (see pictures in image gallery). All straps are intact. 

Jousting emerged during the 12th C. from the military use of the lance by the mounted knight. During the latter part of the Middle Ages, jousting gained popularity in numerous kingdoms and was transformed into a lucrative event. Knights and nobles gained considerable wealth, prestige and land during such bouts, while merchants and artisans benefited from the ‘games’ by the distension of neighboring populations. While Jousting spread widely across the Christian kingdom, Pope Innocent II, in 1130, at a church council at Clermont, denounced all forms of ‘Noble’ tournaments and forbade Christian burials for Nobles killed in them. According to ecclesiastical ideas of morality, the ‘games’ distracted the aristocracy from focusing on more acceptable warfare, in defense of Christianity.

The Arundel Head is a Hellenistic bronze sculpture of a dramatist or king from Asia Minor, now kept in the British Museum . Dating to the 2nd-1st centuries BC, the head once belonged to, and takes its name from,  the famous English collector of classical antiquities Thomas Howard, 21st Earl of Arundel. The bronze sculpture was brought to England from Constantinople in the early seventeenth century as part of Thomas Howard's collection. 

The head is all that remains of a life-size bronze statue. The artist has realistically conveyed the worn features of an old man, including a wrinkled forehead, almond-shaped eyes and pouting mouth, which gives the portrait an air of power and authority. The hair of this bronze masterpiece is tied down in a ribbon, which suggests it may have portrayed a poet. Once thought to represent the ancient Greek writer Homer , it is currently considered to personify either the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles or Macedonian King. 

The bust was acquired by Darksword Armory founder, Eyal Azerad, who has now decided to part with it to make room for new pieces.

Head of Aphrodite, Cast from the original by the Louvre Museum workshop. The bust was acquired by Darksword Armory founder, Eyal Azerad, during the mid 1980’s during his visit to the Louvre. The bust is signed by the Museum workshop at the base of the neck. 

Aphrodite, also known as Venus in Roman mythology, is the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, desire, and fertility. She is one of the twelve Olympian gods and goddesses who resided on Mount Olympus. According to Greek mythology, Aphrodite was born from the foam of the sea near the island of Cyprus after the castration of the titan Uranus by his son Cronus.

Aphrodite is often depicted as a beautiful and seductive goddess, associated with love and desire. She had a significant influence over the realms of romance, passion, and procreation. Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus, the blacksmith of the gods, but she had numerous affairs and romantic entanglements with both gods and mortals, including Ares, the god of war.

Her symbols include the dove, the rose, the scallop shell, and the mirror. Aphrodite had a notable role in various myths and legends, such as the story of her love affair with the Trojan prince Paris, which was a catalyst for the Trojan War. She was also closely associated with the city of Athens, where she had a temple called the Aphrodite Pandemos, which represented her role in public and civic life.

Aphrodite's influence extended beyond Greece, as she was widely worshiped throughout the ancient Mediterranean world. Her cults and temples were present in various cities and regions, and her worship often involved rituals and festivals celebrating love and fertility. Aphrodite remains a prominent figure in Greek mythology and continues to inspire artistic depictions and interpretations of love and beauty.

The new project from Darksword Armory Owner Eyal Azerad - the Raven Chef Knife is a high end, Japanese inspired professional chef knife at an affordable price, Canadian-made with EN 1.4116 German Krupp steel. This traditional Japanese chef knife has been redesigned with more chopping and cutting clearance, with a newly designed bolster angle. This makes the Raven Knife much easier to handle, control and slice - with an ultra sharp-edge.

The Raven Knife comes with our signature Series magnetic knife block.  
The magnetic knife block is made with 1" thick super magnets set in Canadian maple stained wood. The double-sided magnetic block can hold up to 8 large knives (4 on each side). The block weights 14 lbs. The super magnets will hold any knife very tightly to avoid any knife drops.
