1334 Two Handed War Sword of Johannes von Eglofstein

Johannes von Eglofstein was a military leader in early 15th Century Germany. He was also the founder of the University of Wurzberg, which he caused to be built after being elected Bishop of Wurzberg in 1400. This came as a result of his victory as commander of the victorious army in the Battle of Bergtheim, where the nobility and ecclesiastical forces put down a rebellion against the church by various territorial towns. He ruled as bishop and was involved in several famous battles and peace negotiations in the area until his death in 1411.
