Inspired by French and German medieval swords, the Marquis is a late 15th century Hand-and-a-half medieval sword, or bastard sword, reflecting the art of the late medieval period.

By the 15th C., the deeply hollow ground diamond shape blades took favour on the battle field. With constant development of full plated armours, the pronounced tip proved to be a devastating weapon even against the most intricate defence. The heavily tapered blade gave the swords of the late medieval period devastating stabbing capabilities, while retaining their destructive cutting edge.

Inspired by French and German architecture, The guard of the Marquis is decorated with a floral French motif and topped with a ‘Writhen’ pommel. The pommel was cast directly from an authentic 15th century Katzbalger in the collection of the Darksword Armory founder, Eyal Azerad.

Hand forged, the Marquis is made from EN-45 Spring Steel and Tempered to a Rockwell of 50. The Guard and pommel are made of Copper.

The Marquis Hand-and-a-half Medieval sword is hand forged in India from EN-45 Spring Steel, and tempered to a Rockwell of 48-50. The Herald Series is crafted under Darksword supervision and guidelines to create a balance between affordability and functionality. While hand made in India, The tapered diamond shape oak handle and scabbard are made in Montreal Canada, in the Darksword Armory shop.
