Sword of the Third Crusade

The Third Crusade (1189–1192), also known as the Kings' Crusade, was an attempt by European leaders to reconquer the Holy Land from Saladin (Salāh al-Dīn). Spurred by religious zeal, both English and French monarchies (Henry II and Philip II) ended their bitter conflict and joined forces to lead this new Crusade. With reckless armies and incessant conflict over power, land and “title”, the Christian forces abandoned their struggle. Ultimately, on September 2, 1192, Richard and Saladin signed a treaty leaving Jerusalem under Muslim control, while allowing Christians access to Holy Land.

The Sword of the Third Crusade is the archetype weapon of the Crusading Era. Crowned with an octagonal pommel, full length fuller and crucifix guard, the Crusader sword offers good balance and thrusting power.

As with all our swords, this model comes with a wood scabbard, wrapped in black leather.
